I'm a little tree on the hill
looking south, standing still
it's an early spring, wind blows around
I have to keep my roots in the ground

A little bird came to me one day
sang a song and stayed whole May
leaves appeared to me with flowers on the bloom
I never have felt this good

I asked the bird to stay with me and sing
through the fall and winter and the spring
"Make a nest in me, and you will see
that I'm the most comfortable tree"

Summer passed and flowers fell asleep
nature was going to retreat
and bird went to south, my leaves fell on the ground
I never have been so down

"I will fly away
to where the grass grows green
I'll across the sea
and there I'll find a tree"

I'm a little tree on the hill

It's a winter now, but you are not mine
so I'm not feeling too fine

A gust of wind came to me to teach
that some things are out of my reach
"You know the birds come an go and trees stay on their place,
these are little facts you have to face"

She'll come back one day
land on your branch and say:
"Sing for you whole May
but I will fly away"
